Butterfly Valves
Contingent upon disc conclusion plan, connection design, and activation technique, Butterfly valves can be categorized into various types.
Concentric Butterfly Valve
The concentric butterfly valve is the most fundamental kind of butterfly valve design. In this design, the valve stem goes through the centreline of the disc. This is also called a zero offset valve. Concentric butterfly valves are utilized for low-pressure services.
Unconventional Butterfly Valve
In an unconventional butterfly valve, the stem doesn’t go through the centre-line of the disc. There are three sorts of unconventional valves.
Single-balanced valve:
It is the butterfly valve where the stalk is located right behind the centreline of the disc.
Double-balanced butterfly valve:
It is the butterfly valve where the stalk is located behind the disc with an additional balance to one side.
Triple balanced butterfly valve:
It’s used for highly creative applications. The third balance is in between the disc and seat contact axis.
Lug Type Butterfly valve
The lug-style butterfly valve designs have threaded Lug outside the valve body. Utilizing two arrangements of studs, the valve is associated with piping flanges. One end of the line can be separated without influencing the opposite side since every flange has its bolts.
Wafer Type Butterfly Valve
A wafer-type butterfly valve is a layer of stuff between two pipe spines and the flange bolts encompass the valve body. This is the most efficient butterfly valve. Long bolts are utilized covering both spines and valve bodies.
A wafer butterfly valve gives sealing against bi-directional pressure contrast in the liquid stream. The wafer version of the butterfly valves is designed to secure against a tight seal and two-way pressure contrast.

Advantages of Butterfly Valve
- Butterfly valves have numerous advantages over the gate, globe, plug, and ball valves, particularly for large industrial applications of valves.
- Butterfly valves present investment funds in weight, space, and cost.
- The support expenses of butterfly valves are generally low because there is an insignificant number of moving parts.
- It is easier to Install
- Better energy efficiency
- It needs less raw material and is less costly.
